6 days: From Marrakech to the desert to the Atlantic Coast - 6 days | 5 nights - Departure Marrakesh

The dryness of the desert and the refreshing air of the Atlantic Coast all at once is still possible in 6 days trip. Starting from Marrakech, crossing the High Atlas with a visit to Ait Ben Haddou, passing the night in the nomad tents in Chegaga Dunes, and ending in Essaouira for a night with a road along the Atlantic Coast and its beach.


Day 1: Marrakech - Ouarzazate via Ait Ben Haddou
Appointment in your hotel at 8h00. Departure via the High Atlas Mountain, through the Tizi N’Tichka pass reaching 2260m. After the Tichka pass, you leave the main road and take a side road to the Tellouet Kasbah, which belonged to the Lords of the Atlas Pacha Glaoui and his family (lunch in the place). In the afternoon a track leads you to Ait Ben Haddou which has been used as a backdrop for many Hollywood blockbusters, via the Ounila Valley with its Berber villages. Then onwards to Ouarzazate where you'll have dinner, overnight at the hotel.

Day 2: Ouarzazate - Agdez - Zagora - M'hamid
Morning departure with 4x4 from Ouarzazate to M'hamid, through the Draa Valley and its thousand kasbahs, skirting a palm grove of over 200 km. Passage through the village of Tamnougalt to visit it’s ancient Kasbah where the film of Babel, the Princess of Persia...was turned. Then along the Draa Valley and the Ksars we join Zagora. After 20 km we stop in Tamgroute to visit the Koranic library, the manufacture of pottery and the underground streets. Later we continue the trail through the palm grove of Ouled Brahim, Reg Elfaija to reach M'hamid, the last village along the Draa River where the desert begins. Appointment with dromedaries for ride to the camp where you can enjoy a wonderful sun set in the desert. Dinner and overnight in Berber nomad tents

Day 3: M’hamid - Chegaga
After breakfast, visit of the old Ksar of M'hamid, tea and back on track by 4x4 to the big sandy dunes of Chegaga. Picnic lunch under the shade of palm trees or tamarisk. In the afternoon we continue the track to attend the magic sunset over the dunes. Dinner and overnight at the feet of the big dune by the bivouac.

Day 4: Chegaga - Taroudant via Taliouine and Foum Zguid
After breakfast departure to follow the track between Taliouine and Erg Chegaga along the dry bed of the Draa through Lake Iriqui. Then Foum Zguid and onwards by road to Taznakht (optional stop in a cooperative carpet for a properly itemize the different kinds of carpets in the region). After lunch we take the road to Taliouine, famous for its safran and then join Taroudant, also knows as the small Marrakech with its red ramparts and souks. Dinner and overnight in a guest house.

Day 5: Taroudant – Agadir - Essaouira
After breakfast departure for Essaouira via Agadir. On the way we'll visit the beach of Sidi Kaouki, then Taghazoute, where you will have the opportunity to breath in the air of the Atlantic on the beach and have lunch. Dinner and overnight in a hotel in Essaouira.

Day 6: Essaouira - Marrakech
In the morning visit of Essaouira, the former city of Mogador, one of UNESCO's World heritage site in Morocco. Visit of Skalla and the souks, the fortifications in the old town and its houses built by the Portuguese, French and Berbers. Lunch in a restaurant in the old Medina. In the afternoon, 2hours drive back to Marrakech, at your hotel, where your journey will end.
